Wole Soyinka’s relentless attitude to reviving his native culture in Death and the King’s Horseman is appealing while R.K Narayan’s indifferent attitude towards his native Indian culture are both revealed in this study. It was also revealed that, the readerresponse theory of any work of literature is openminded and the interpretatio n of any work of literature can be done without authorial intention. During the course of working on this study, it was gathered that even though postcolonialism is concerned with revival of native culture and writing back to the centre, it also concerns itself with the reality of the contemporary time in relation with transculturation as proven in both Death and the King’s Horseman and A horse and two goats respectively. Due to a strong scrutiny of related studies to the research topic and theoretical framework, the study sh ed more light on the research problem. Apart from the two primary books, and the King’s Horseman Fall Apart and A horse and two goats by Chinua Achebe and, o The Lion and the Jewel ther postcolonial works like Death Things by Wole Soyinka were also consulted in completing the task. Evidently in the study, the revelation of the authors’ attitudes could not have been investigated and studied without the knowledge of postcolonial discourse. he The research was framed around postcolonial theory as it dealt with two postcolonial colonial writers who are both products of former colonies, Nigeria and India respectiv ely. Instead of the usual conflict of cultures perceived by various scholars in the aforementioned works, this study revealed how the authors have influenced the plot of their works with t reality of their attitudes towards their native cultures as postcolonial writers. The attitudes of the aforementioned authors towards their native cultures have been revealed through their work s, Death and the King’s Horseman and A horse and two goats respectively. This study delved into presenting a comparative analysis of Wole Soyinka’s attitude towards his native Yoruba culture and R.K Narayan’s attitude to his respective Indian culture.
